Everyone says that the home is where the heart is. Home is where you hang your hat. Home is where you are. But shouldn’t home be more than just a glorified hat rack? Shouldn’t it be somewhere you love being? There are many ways to make your Florida becahfront condo a haven for yourself and your family.
If you’re retired and living in a luxury condo, you should take advantage of all of the amenities the condo affords you. This probably includes a pool and a hot tub. Take the time to soak up the sun in the pool but don’t forget to enjoy things in your condo too. The balcony for example. Set a glider swing outside and a few small side tables. This is an ideal place to listen to the waves or the cicadas and read the newspaper while you have your coffee. Doesn’t that sound nice?
Inside can be the same way. Try implementing a technology ban in the bedroom. Your bedroom should be a place where you rest, you don’t need to haul your laptop in there to work or surf the internet. If you can, try cutting television out of the bedroom as well.

Everyone Comes to Visit
When you own a Florida beachfront condo, your popularity will skyrocket. People you haven’t seen in years will suddenly want to fly down and visit. And by visit I mean they want to crash at your place instead of paying for a hotel room. If you’re retired down there, the kids (and the grand kids) will make frequent trips. They all might just be using you for your waterfront view, but who can blame them? Wouldn’t you do the same?
Their motivation might be wrong, but their hearts are in the right place. You’ll never feel lonely moving to a new state with a Florida beachfront condo. All the visits can be a nice break from everyday life. Your family and friends will marvel at the luscious space and the incredible view. And who wouldn’t want to be just minutes from the beach? Retiring is something we all like to fantasize about. We consider all of the places we have been and where we think we might feel our most cozy. For most of us that place is warm and full of scenic beaches. It is also a place where people in our age group congregate to enjoy their later life. Of course for many of us that place is Florida. It may seem cliche to some but it is a beautiful area full of the sorts of interests that matter to us, from golfing to boating. It is also a great area temperature wise and scenically.

Decorating Your Florida Beachfront Condo
When you move into a new Florida beachfront condo you have a world of blank opportunity to decorate the place. You can do whatever you’d like with it, so what should you do?
Well a lot of new Florida condo owners go the “beachy” route. They decorate in blues and greens and put sea shells all over the place. While this might be great for rental apartments that you lease out during the year to vacationing families, it’s not exactly the most “homey” place to live year round. Who wants to wake up to a pack of seahorses staring them in the face? Not me.
There are ways to be “beachy” without being overtly cheesy. Here are some tips on how to keep your sunny condo looking classy and thematic.
First, choose light woods or neutral wickers. Don’t pick out the beach cottage white wicker furniture. It’s definitely a tacky move. Instead, choose neutral wood colors that will compliment any paint color, not just the traditional blue or green.
Speaking of paint color, it’s nice for your bedroom to look like an ocean, but shouldn’t it be an oasis? Try painting it a neutral color and adding pops of accent colors throughout the room for a cohesive, yet classy look.

The Snowbird Phenomenon
We all know that birds fly south for the winter to escape the cold, the snow, and the ice. Who can blame them? Yes, birds leave places in the north to head south but so do people. The snowbird phenomenon started as early as the nomads of the Eastern Hemisphere, though I’m sure they did not have luxury Florida beachfront condos to go to when the winters came.
These usually comprise older, retired individuals rather than those who have full time employment and surprisingly, many of them make the trip in RVs. So where do they come from and where do they go? Well, this seems to vary greatly. They mostly come from the northeast of the United States but some of them come from as far away as Canada! They head to places in the sun belt like Texas, Florida, and the Caribbean. Usually this happens in November with the snowbirds returning north in late April or May.
Like I said previously, the snowbirds are generally retirees with great beachfront Florida condos to stay in while they’re in the south, but some of them are business owners who can easily do business from any location.
Wouldn’t it be nice to sit on the beach to work your 9-5 for half of the year?

Amenities and Luxury Living
There are a multitude of amenities at luxury Florida condos. It’s almost overwhelming when you first move in, you don’t know which way to run. At the Plaza at Oceanside the beachfront Florida condo at Pompano Beach, there are so many that there’s no way this couldn’t be considered luxury living!
A few of these amenities I’ll describe here just to get your juices flowing.
How would you enjoy a virtual golf simulator? Well, you’ll definitely get some fantastic time on the links even if it’s raining outside! Spend some time with the buddies and get some great putting practice in before you go out on the course.
If golfing isn’t your style, there’s always the exercise room! Don’t feel like running on the beach today? Grab yourself a treadmill and forget the SPF and stay indoors.
Okay, so golfing and treadmills aren’t exactly what you’re looking for. Why not come in from a great day on the beach and unwind in the theatre. It’s state of the art and has room for everyone. You can even recline the chairs! Definitely a great way to see a film with the family or that someone special.

Beachfront Florida Condos and Insurance
If you are moving to a luxury Florida condo there are so many different things to consider. What part of Florida? Will it be a beachfront Florida condo? Are you going to live there all year or are you going to be a “fly south for the winter” kind of person? But something that you might not be thinking about is insurance.
Florida law no longer requires that you carry homeowners insurance if you’re living in a condo or a home owner’s association. This is a potentially disastrous piece of legislation. No one ever plans for accidents to happen, that’s why they’re called accidents, but they can be costly when they crop up unexpectedly.
A great example of this happened to the actress Marisa Tomei in New York City. A leak in her apartment caused several thousands of dollars worth of damage to three other apartments. Without insurance she is being sued for neglect!
Now, you might say that your condo is going to be well taken care of and will never have a problem like that of Ms. Tomei, but what if your neighbors aren’t that diligent about their upkeep? It’s nice to know that you’ll be covered no matter what.

Activities at the Beach
As it’s getting warmer, more and more people are heading to their Florida luxury condos. Looking for things to do in the warm weather shouldn’t be hard, especially in Florida but here are a few tips if you’re scrounging around for things to do.
First, go to the beach. That seems easy enough right? Since Florida is a peninsula your new Florida condo is never far away from water. The beach is a great place to go for any type of activity. Are you looking to be rough and tumble and get some exercise in? The beach is great for playing volleyball, water football, catch, bocce, or football! I’ve even seen people play horseshoes at the becach.
If you’re not really into getting your cardio at the beach, it’s a great place to stop, listen to the waves, and take a nap. (Just make sure you’re wearing sunscreen and in the shade!) Yoga is also a popular relaxing activity to do at the beach. The ocean is a very calming, centering place, and perfect for this activity. There’s never a shortage of people reading at the beach either.

Its mix of culinary cultures, bountiful seas, and rich agriculture lend themselves to some of the country’s best food. Whether you want down home southern cuisine, or spicy Cuban cooking you can find it in Florida.
Southern food has undergone something of a renaissance in recent years with chief modernizing classic comfort foods like meatloaf and macaroni and cheese. They often uses local, organic ingredients and a mix of traditional and experimental preparation techniques. The effects of this movement are felt in Florida.
